10/6/09 Salon 7000

I don't have a head of hair-- I have a pet that requires a lot of care. So once a month, I visit Salon 7000, so that Eunice can tame the curls. Also I love the people who work at Salon 7000. So it's fun and relaxing while being tiring as well.

Cher is going to Florida this week to say goodbye to her sister. She's been very close to her and now it's likely that her sister won't remember her. Eunice just got back from visiting a very sick brother-in-law. Life moves in and out of bodies. It's sad to lose a piece of furniture that we're attached to, how much harder to say goodbye to dear human beings. Those our karma has put together with us--for so many years.

I admire Cher. She lived a miracle which she has shared with me for the movie. Also she has an interesting family. I love hearing about her kids and grandkids. This family loves to celebrate with each other. Cher always has a party, wedding, anniversary --something fun to get dressed up for. She's just come back from her oldest sisters birthday party. The party took place in Chicago. Cher said that the food was simple but delicious.

Next to Eunice is one of my favorite hair dressers--Gary. Gary is so kind and giving. He works with clients who are in and around 80. One woman, beautiful and regal, comes in on a walker. Someone has to bring her to the salon. When Gary takes down her hair, it's thick and shiney.
She's usually quiet, but today we talked. She told me that she likes my hair and I told her that I like her hair. She wears it like a queen in an upsweep that she's rocked for the past 40 years.
When I looked into her eyes, I knew that she was feeling the presence of Prem. She smiled so sweetly. Full of the life of the spirit. It's the first time that I've seen so much life in her. Next time, I'm asking her name. Another regular is a very tiny woman with tics. She looks fragile. Sometimes she comes in with her elderly husband. He drives her. Sometimes we talk a little about church. But today, she wanted to talk to me the entire time that Gary worked on her. The virus has burned away a part of the veil that has separated me from God. People feel it. That's exciting. I'm being a witness, it's like watching a movie.

Rain called me. Luke and I sent a (late) anniversary gift of flowers and chocolate. They got it today and were delighted. Trying to move is so stressful--sellling their house, finding another that's beter for the family. The gift brightened their day.

I can talk to Rain about spirituality. I've been crying because I'm afraid that I won't see Prem again. Rain put it to me as though Prem was speaking through her. She said, " Mom. Don't you know that Baba (Muktananda) is here with us." She reminded me that before she said yes to Ry, he had a dream of Baba. Then, she knew he was the one. She went on to say that Baba is really here in every way but the body, and that my mom is here with us as well. She said when Prem takes mahasamadhi that it will be the same. He'll always be with us. Always. I'm so grateful that he blessed the kids with His own hands.
