9/6/09 Saints and Magic

I wake up early for morning prayers.  Not my usual mode.  I didn't feel tired,  just like when I was younger living at the Ashram.   Last night we found out that Bapuji was not going to be present at the Yajna.  He told us to come to prayers at the Daves and be present with Him before leaving for home.  He knows that I still don't feel my best and He wants to protect me from the long late night drive.  We make the finale decision not to stay for evening prayers.
Bapuji tells me to take extra care of my health.  I'm not sure how to go about that.

Because most of the yogis are at the yajna,  Luke and I get to move our chairs within a few feet of Bapuji's chair.  It's very beautiful there with the puja to Ranga Avaduta,  Bapuji's Guru.  Luke and I don't chant these prayers very well,  but we try and it's nice to dwell within the sound that others know how to create.

After prayers,  we have a light breakfast with the family and the few devotees who make the same decision that we did.  Alan brought two new friends and they wanted to spend their time with The Bapuji as well.  Then surpise---Bapuji invited us up to spend more time with Him.  It's such sweetness and peace.  I looked around the room so I would remember it all.  Why didn't I bring my camera?  Hummmm.  Maybe someone will send me photos.

As we left,  Bapuji was in the window waving and blessing our journey.  Nayna stood on the curb and waved.  And we did have the best trip back,  it seemed to flow like magic--like no possible day in Chicago.  I saw that I could live in a city and be a city driver.  That is a first for me.  I always thought that I was a country driver who could drive on well known highways,  but not in new areas--what lane to be in,  how to merge on a dime . . . etc . . .  Now I saw that it could be easy,  as easy as going to Bloomington is now.  Very  new freedom from limited thinking.

At home we were grateful for the blessed trip.  We had dinner with our son-in-law ,  Bobby.  We like to go to Pucini's .  Inexpensive,  but yummy Itallian food.  I always get a grilled chicken salad and a child's sized pasta with tomato sauce.  Luke and Bobby like to get a shrimp and pepper pizza --Panama Red.

I know what I'm getting Luke for his birthday.  He will love this gift as much as he loved the piece I had commissioned for him.  Maybe more.  And he'll be just as surprised.  I'm getting him a flat screen t.v. with high def and Bobby is going to pick it up for me at Costco. (yes,  MKate,  you were right)  He'll encourage Ricky to install it.   (or I'll get someone else to do it).  You know,  so far it's been almost a year and Ricky hasn't installed Luke's bathroom cabinet.

No.  I can't find the words to talk about my time with Bapuji.  I can't even find them for myself.  So what can I say?  I may never have enough or the right words for an experience on this level.
But I'll keep meditating on it.
