9/4/09 Getting Ready for Chicago and Prem
O.K. Well, I'm not going to talk much about this day, because I have to teach a class tomorrow before leaving for chicago. If I had know that this was Luke's only time to say goodbye to Prem--I wouldn't have arranged for the class. But . . . oh well.
Going to see a Saint is a great priviledge. I don't have the words for it. People go on various pilgrimages and in India they suffer physically to do it. I've read accounts of trudging barefoot through heat and rain and bugs and you imagine it . . . they suffer it. And crowds. Masses of people.
So, today when I woke up and still didn't feel my best, and when my car had a kryia -- I thought it's better than some pilgrimages I've read about. And the people who go on these pilgrimages often go every year.
I went into the garage and started my car. I was heading for Nature's Market. I heard a bad scratchy sound and all the warning icons went on. All of them. MKate told me to go straight to Firestone and have them check things out. I'm trying to think. Words and ideas are running through my mind. We could go by plane. We could rent a car.
Firestone does me a big favor. They fit me in and check the car. Firestone says that my car is all right. They try to tell me that I am at fault. They think I started the car and then started it again. But I KNOW I didn't. I think, "God, can you help me. Please let my car be o.k., then I'll check into in more throughly when I get home. Just please keep us safe on the road. I'm already a little scared of Chicago traffic. I would never go there if Prem weren't there.
At least there won't be any poisonous snakes to deal with. No heavy rains. No over powering heat.
So I went to NM and got to work. Now, I'm getting my stuff ready for tomorrow. As before, I won't bring my computer. Say a prayer.
