Thursday is B-town day. The day we see our littles(grandkids) and their parents--Rain and Ry.
We had a beautiful day for a drive. Perfect. Sunny but not too hot. It's strange, Luke and I are usually not on the same page temperature wise. If the car feels tres hot to me, it feels cold to him. Soooo we compromise.
We stop at Starbucks. I call Rain to tell her we're on the way. She has to go with us the first time we pick up Xavier from his new school. Rain is freaked out because there are 50--yes--50 kids in his 2nd grade class. But this is a magnet school. I want to see X's face when he comes out of school. I'll know when I see his face.
We pick up Rain from her work and we're on the way. As we pull into the parking lot, there is an ice cream store--"The Chocolate Moose." I am looking for a school. We park and there's a brick building behind us. Luke and Rain go in and I . . . read in the car. I'll go in next time. I will.
When X came out he looked very happy and very confident. When I spoke to him, he sounded happy. So good. I believe that this will be a great year for him. Anyway, I really hope so.
Rain and Luke hung out in the parking lot talking to teachers and parents. We all had ice cream. I had diet ice cream. Yes. I'm back on a serious diet. I want to lose 20 lb by Christmas and I know I can.
We dropped Rain back at work and took X home. Rocky was just taking a walk with a neighbor lady. When he saw us, he wanted to come in and get attention from his family. First thing I gave him a bone. Then I patted his cute little head.
X and I played with his Pokemon cards for a long time. He gave me some. I didn't want to take them but he insisted. I'm not sure what the game is? But he seems to know. Anyway, he's working with numbers and this will increase his math skills. Next week I hope to have cards of my own that I can trade and play with. X noted that he plays Pet Society with me and I play Pokemon with him.
We ate at the Turkish place and as usual it was delicous. Both kids eat the spicy red lentil soup. I was good on my diet and ate the soup and salad first (my salad and X's salad) I had more of my chicken and shared my bread and rice with the family. Ryan helps me eat my dish and Violet had a part of my rice. Yay. Everything was delicious. Perfectly spiced. It's cool to see the mint plants that surround the restaurant and to know I had fresh mint on my cucumber salad.
Violet started the meal sitting with Rain because X wanted to play Pokemon with me. He may be playing by his own rules, but there are so many characters that I wonder if it matters. Rain and Ry say that he always wins. I was touched that he didn't actually beat me. Looking across the table Violet looked adorable. She shook her golden curls and said, "I like you gramma," which is her highest compliment. Then she came to draw with me. I like to bring markers and paper for her. She says that she's writing notes. She wants to see inside my purse because she knows that I have the Bach Flower gummies inside. She usually eats six. I give them out two at a time. They certainly can't hurt her. Enfact she will probably sleep better.
The drive home was peaceful. Luke and I talked quietly and lightly. Golden days.
