8/15/09 Xavier's Bday Party. Kids are amazing.

This morning Luke and I headed for Bloomington to celebrate our grandson's birthday.  Rain and Ryan gave him a birthday party at a local park.  It was hot.  I'm allergic to the sun have and had to sit under an awning.  There were 17 invited kids and 21 kids who came.  Hummmm.  Does this add up to you?  Boys tend to get wild.  Very.  And rough.  They had fun running around the park and playing games with Ry and Papa(Luke.)   The black bean and salsa dip was yummmy.  I had it with every chip that was available (don't read the chip part MKate)  Later Xavier opened his gifts.  The kids got a little hyper but it was fine.  Jen keep things moving fast.  (a good move)  The gifts came and went.  I wrote down the giver and the gift for thank you notes.  The kid must have gotten 500 Pokemon cards,  Pokemon shirts and toys and a cool key chain.  He was in heaven.

During the proceedings,  I took care of Violet.  She's such a little pumpkin and she loves her gamma--me.  She's adorable in everyway.  The older kids wanted to play with her and amuse her.  My favorite moments are when she puts her little head up against me and says ,  "I like you gramma."  We have a special bond.   Talk about miracles.

Xavier and I have a special bond as well--it's called --Pet Society.  I gave his pet,  Rocky,  an aquarium.  Xavier went fishing a caught a lot of neat fish and other items as well.  Some folks recycle the old boots and bent soda cans,  and some save them to decorate with.  I recycle.  Xavier hasn't made up his mind.  I also love to watch him play his games and I've learned a lot by watching.  My hand-eye coordination has improved and also my reflexes.

Rain,  Violet and I went  home a bit early.  Rain was exhasted.  So many kids and parents to deal with.  She went up for a rest and I played with Violet.  Violet is into baby dolls.  She had two in her stroller.  They were covered up and had a toy elephant with them.  Little by little more baby dolls appeared.  We dressed them and fed them.  Background for the doll games was a Wiggles video.  We also sang the Wiggles songs and Violet danced for me.  She said,  "Watch me dance gramma."  She really is a graceful dancer.  I can see her getting into dance when she's a little older.  She's the perfect size.

We went to Turkuaz,  our fav Turkish restaurant in Btown.  I love the Pide's but I also love the bowls of chicken with spicy sauce.   So I had the chicken which is served with a piece of flat bread which covers the bowl and keeps in the heat.  The bread is so delicious.  You start with a spicy lentil soup that's so good even Xavier eats it and wants more.   A small plate comes with cucumbers and fresh mint,  red lentils and a small cabbage salad with a citrus dressing.  Sooooo good.  Then a larger plate comes out with white beans,  more cabbage and lentils to go with the chicken.  Pure heaven and (don't read this MKate) I also eat some of Rain's pide with cheese and egg.  BUT I also take two reduce pills which should help.

After she finishes eating,  Violet wants to sit with me.  We draw together.  I try to always have things for her to enjoy in my purse.   Rain still has a headache so I try . . . some of Dr Pearl's healing tech with her.  I don't know.  Did I help her?  Maybe a little.  Then I did a massage on her neck with CM cream.  I'll call her tomorrow and we'll see.
