8/1/09 Bear Valley Flow

I have been trying to sleep backwards so Luke can have more room.  For some reason,  my back is not happy with this arrangement.  Maybe because I always sleep on my other side,  maybe because that part of the matress is too hard for me.  I'm not sure.

Luke slept well and I'm glad.  He had a very long day of music today--starting early with the Teddy Bear Concert for kids.  However,  errg,  when I woke up my back let me know that I couldn't do that again.  What to do?   I'm not sure.

The musicians have been complaining that the "Night in Old Vienna" was boring Strauss, Jr sappy music.  Waaa,  Waaa.  I didn't know what to expect.

I had a perfect seat.  It wasn't just music.  There was a professional dance couple--Stan Dunn and Popi Rizzi.  Popi was an older woman with a head full of grey curls.  She had a beautiful satin costume that looked like a Nina Tourme wedding dress.  Some folks dressed in ball gowns.  I didn't even know it was happening and since I can't dance right now . . .  Oh well . . . actually ever.  I wouldn't have dragged up formal wear anyhow.

They had a disco ball going and the weather was perfect.  The pro couple danced a bit and then they got people in the audience up to dance as well.  Soon everyone who wanted to was dancing.  The rest of us felt like we were in Paris during the time of Renoir and Monet.   I tried to capture the feeling of the evening with my little camera phone.  I wish that I'd brought my camera.  Next year.  By the last waltz of the evening,  a farmiliar piece,  the little dance floor was full as wel as the aisles.  A great feeling of joy filled the room.  Surprising joy is even better than the joy you expect to feel.  No one knew what fun this would be.

People ask us out after the concert but Luke does have to rest.  We went home for pudding and chat.
