7/7/09 Concert in the Tundra
O.K. so I spend a lot of time in the Lodge of Darkness. And I have racked up a lot of coins on pet society. Durga will have a huge wardrobe.
I keep hoping that the weather will warm up, because Luke is playing the Brahms Concerto for Violin and Cello. And he's playing last on the program, so if it gets too cold how will he move his fingers.
But . . . sadly, the weather does not warm up. It gets colder and colder. By the time I get to the tent, I realize that I should have brought a blanket. I feel sorry for the musicians. And I think about some of the t.v. competitions where judges are hard on competitors that have chopped off a part of a finger or a model who's afraid of heights and has to jump off a ledge.
Here we have these professional musicians-- it's cold? they have to play anyhow--somehow.
I was lucky. I sat near a camping couple. They had an extra warm camping blanket that they will use to camp outside tonight. It keeps me toasty warm. Thank you guardian angels.
Somehow, Luke and Doug (cellist) get it together to perform an amazing feat of ice fingers Brahms. Luke actually smiled at the audience. And his teeth weren't even chattering.
Lots of interesting people and conversations. But . . . I'm late so . . . . It's my last night on the mountain. Am I happy? Mostly about sleeping in a King Sized be again.
