7/31/09 Bear Valley Blur

It's Monday 8/3, the traditional musicians day off and I am trying to think of what happened to the days between my last entry and today????

I'm looking at a concert program.  It tells me that we had a guest artist--Di Wu,  a young pianist.  She placed  6th in the 2009 Van Cliburn Competition.  However,  our conductor and musical director,  Carter Nice,  liked her music best and in his mind placed her first.

She impressed the audience,  not so much with her Beethoveen 2 which is subtle,  but with her encore.  Don't ask me what it was,  even Luke wasn't sure.  However,  she told the lukewarm audience--(without words) --"Don't think I can wow you?  Well,  listen to this."  And she proceded to play very fast and very loud.  That brought the audience to their feet and that's what brought them back to hear her again.
