7/29/09 Bear Valley /First Concert

It's hard to sleep here.  The bed is too small and I have to avoid kicking Luke.  He's working--long and intense.  Well,  I can't complain too much because I can sleep after he gets out of bed in the morning and I'm not working.

I played with my puzzle until 10:30.  Then I showered and started my routine--yes even up here I have a kind of routine.  I do my practices and I exercise.  I had just jumped out of the shower when Betty Mae (upstairs landlady knocked and wanted to come down and use the laundry--well it's hers and having a washer/dryer in the condo saves me time and $$$$$$)  I said that I was just out of the shower but in California people don't care.  I put a blanket around me and she came down to show me how to use the machines and to chat.  Well,  I didn't care.  I was covered from top to bottom.  But in Indy . . .  even MKate--best friend and past life twin would not visit if I wasn't fully dressed.  Here it's so . . . . who cares.

Betty Mae is so interesting.  She's a docent at the zoo in her area which is a very forward looking and animal loving zoo.  They have civilized spaces for the animals to run and play in.  People can view them from the safety of a train.   She told me about a lion that had been rescued from a circus--the poor thing spent three years pacing the same sad little space that she was forced to live in her tiny circus train area.  Ugg.  How can anyone do that to an animal.  Now things are changing for her.  I'm so glad.  It's a miracle that she was saved.

Talking about mental patterns,  we all have them.  Is this story a sign that I need to break through some of mine?

Betty Mae and her husband,  Jim,  used to have a dog but when she passed they decided not to take on the responsibility again.  Willow.  God is talking to you.  No big ticket (work and time) pets for someone who says that they have three or more major projects going.

She also showed me this amazing new toy that she and her husband use to communicate when a cell phone would be impossible or inconvenient--like here at the Bear.  It's a high tech walky talky that you can use when you are up to 7 miles apart. (or is it appart?)  No probably I was right the first time.  We don't have a phone up here this year and she's letting us use her walky talky for safety purposes.   She said she'd buy one for me when she goes home for a meeting.  Yay!  More electronics for Willow.  Where is Max when I need him?  If Max were here I'd be on line in my condo instead of in the Lodge of Darkness.

Jim,  Betty Mae's husband,  gave us more veggies.  I love these fresh from the garden tomatos.  I'm eating them for breakfast these days.

Last night Luke and I were looking for something to watch on t.v.  He  found a Bachelor type show for heavy people.  (Careful Willow-- no one ever called you Twiggy)  We thought it was compelling and will probably watch at home if we can.  But you know --all these young,  healthy girls going: " Waaaah  Waaaaah Waaaah ,  I'm fat and no body loves me and I've never even had a date."  B.S. to that.  Some of the women I know who are heavy have the best marriages,  and some who are thin have the worst.  And if you don't believe that,  girls--lose weight.  You might find that your luck with men is no different.

Also,  it's very unhealthy to be over weight.  It puts too much stress on the body.  My M.D. recommends exercising EVERY DAY and I do.   Oh well . . .  .  maybe I need to look at my own excuses for not doing what I know I should do.

Back to today.  Tonight is the first BV concert.  It's a pop concert--one of my favs.  I'll let you know how it goes tomorrow.

I met a new dog.  He or she's a "teenager" Golden Lab.  So friendly and adorable.  I met this dog when her/his owners came to get me because I parked so badly that they couldn't get past the big station wagon that we're renting up here,  and they wanted to take their dog for a swim in the lake.
