7/27/09 Bear Valley
So here we are in the usual mix of delight and not so.
Our condo is in most ways much, much better than we've had in the past. The bed, although smaller than we're used to, is at least not sagging in the middle so it's possible for us to sleep without knocking each other out of bed. Also, we have room on either side of us for each to have a proper bed lamp. And a space to get out of bed. A big luxe here at the Bear.
AND we have a full sized, working frig. Wow. You never know at the Bear. The condo is smaller than usual but better put together so we can live here more comfortably. We don't have to climb down steep stairs in the middle of the night if we have to pee. So many good things.
This condo comes with a resident land lady who helped us get our stuff downstairs and gave us tons of the most delicious veggies from her garden. I'm not a fan of tomatos but her are out of this world. We're eating them for breakfast. Like the Jersey tomatos that we used to get in the long ago. She gave us squash, a large cuke, peppers and we are making use of all.
In the flow. She and her husband were there to greet us. I didn't want Luke to have to lug all our major stuff and piles of groceries down stairs by himself and here were two willing hands.
(A repeat but I'm excited about it. I wished it and here it came. The landlord couple were supposed to be gone already but they didn't actually leave until they helped us)
Betty is very athletic. She and her husband do it all. So naturally she thought we'd want to have a picnic at the lake. Wouldn't anyone in their right mind???? She provided us with a picnic freezer chest and she's bringing a larger one when she and her husband come back to the Bear tonight. (they had to go home to get more veggies from their garden.) Honestly I didn't have the heart to tell her, but I should have. Willow isn't outdoorsy. What I love about the Bear is time to rest and do NOTHING.
I won't be able to blog as usual. I can do next day blogging as today, but that means that I'll forget fun details. I know that I repeated some of our first night but didn't want to forget details.
I had some frustration yesterday. Because I didn't pay attention when Luke told me that our rental is keyless, I took a long time to figure it out. The lesson--listen. Pay attention before you change subjects
My computer goes up only at the Lodge--as I mentioned the big room at the lodge is dark and it's like working in a stone cage. Maybe I'm part bat. Anyway. I was having trouble getting on line. I saw a man across the room from me. I knew that he could help me when he finished his buisness. He must be a big deal business wise because he and a partner are thinking about investing many $$$$$$$ in a real estate deal here. When he was finished, he did help me. Was he my guardian angel for that day? If you get out of the way, they come in all shapes and sizes.
I fixed a yummy dinner of fresh squash, peppers, and salmon cakes. Yummmy. Better than most restaurants. Here's another example of the flow at it's magical best. I have three t.v. shows that I've been following--the design with I.M. I saw in Indy and was very happy with the winner. But the other two-- I thought I'd have to wait until I read it in U.S. In the flow, I got back to the condo and Luke turned on the t.v. for me-- there was Food Network Star--I got to see the three remaining contestants in line waiting for judgement and yay! my guy wasn't eliminated. So it's the meditator and the woman with the sharp voice. Guess which one I'm for?
Also, I turned on the t.v. just checking out the channels and there was the final show of the Bachelorette. I'm glad I got a chance to see it. Do I think she picked the perfect guy? He wouldn't have been my choice, but I hope they are happy.
