7/26/09 Travel to Bear Valley
We went to Dawson's for breakfast. Such an elegant place. Romantically dim and with subtle old world colors and design. Everything they serve is delicious and top quality. I had a little oatmeal with walnuts and almond chips and some dried friut. Also scrambled eggs, very good, with a little smoked fish on top and a half piece of english muffin. Lots of great coffee.
We got on the road about when we hoped to --12 p.m. AAA gave easy directions to follow. I read them and Luke drove. He doesn't like me to drive this trip. I'm not sure why. The day was perfect and the scenery gorgeous. Rolling hills of gold with summer wild flowers growing tall. Cows grazing. A mystic old landscape formed during the ice age and still around with it's chunks of ragged rock and strange small hills.
We stop for Starbucks. My ankles are not happy. Then we stop again at Arnold to do a food shopping. We have to shop for almost the whole trip. Guess who we see first thing--Chuck and Annette. We were just saying that we hoped Annette could come to BV this year and here she is. We hug and talk a little. We're looking forward to eating together on the day off.
The drive into BV is lined with tall evergreen trees. Red woods and forest. White clouds and a blue sky. This year we are staying at another condo. The owners spend the summer here as well. We are downstairs which can be noisey sometimes, but is safer if you have to use the bathroom at night. The stairs in these condos are steep.
The owners help Luke unpack the car. It's an answered prayer. I hoped he wouldn't have to do the whole job alone. Then they gave us some home grown veggies and showed us around the condo.
I could not get my computor hook up to work in the condo. I'm hoping to talk to someone from Verizon tomorrow. I'm in the living room area of the Inn. They have free Wi Fi.
Luke and I had a romantic dinner at Head Water's luxe restaurant. Delicious. Like a food network journey.
