6/6/09 Ricky, Rain's bday party
Got my hair washed and all my morning activities done before Ricky came at 12. He was ringing the doorbell as I was coming down the last few stairs.
He came into the kitchen so I could take my vits and make breakfast while we talked. It turns out that we were not the only ones that were last on his list. He had a situation with his kids that had to be worked out. I admire anyone who loves their family enough to put them first.
He hopes to get back to our project soon and I believe him. I felt very empowered that I didn't have to yell or be mean. I just wanted to know what was going on. It was perfect.
At 2:30, Em and Bobby came to pick us up for Rain's party in B town. Bobby has a great big comfy van that I love to ride in. We laughed and had fun the whole way.
It's sad about his mom. We talked about it for awhile, but not the whole trip. She needs to be in a nursing home and she hates it. She's confused and thinks that Bobby can just go around the corner and pick her up--she's about 2 hrs away. It's hard to know what to do. We were able to talk about it and then move on. I'll pray tonight.
Rain loved her bday cake. She loved having mom's spirit there in her words, "Ya look 16." Rain knows how to give a party. The food was delicious, and the group of people relaxed and interesting to talk to. Jane was there. I told her that I was using her daughter's idea for the miracles project. Soon I'll start letting David film my journey towards a miracle of my own. She asked me about the grant and I told her the truth. It was interesting to speak the words out loud, and to experience the faith that no matter what it will all happen. And that will be a miracle in itself.
There were a few kids there and Xavier had fun climbing and playing with the little girl that was almost his age. Violet and I have a sweet understanding. I always have something in my purse for her to play with. She used to dislike Dan and to be afraid of him, but little by little she's warming up. Well, she wouldn't sit on his lap, but she woud high five him and that 's progress.
We sang happy birthday and Rain blew out the candles. It was a windy day. The candles thought about going out, but stayed lit until Rain blew them out. I hope she remembered to make a wish. I ate cake and a little ice cream, and took two reduce pills. The funny thing about those pills is that there were two kinds of pills in the little blue case that Angie gave me. I don't know which was the reduce so I took both types. Rain's friend Sara wants to read about reduce as well.
Rain wanted me to open my gifts as well since we won't be together on my b day. I got a cool CD player, a plane book for California, a locket, Dunkin Doughnuts coffee--two pounds-- and a big dunkin water bottle that I'll love using--and darling pictures of the kids. Rain liked our gift as well. A gift certificate so she can get a new mini tape recorder for her interviews. Em and Bobby gave her and X a joint gift--a Wii. She was delighted and so was X.
On the way home, we mostly laughed and had fun. Em and Bobby are a funny couple.
