5/14/09 BTown, the littles , dinner
We left within a few minutes of our target time. We have enough gas so that we won't have to stop until we're on our way home. We are stressed trying to talk about the surgery which has a long recovery period. I spend at least 1/2 hr each night rubbing his legs to prevent problems. Also I could jump up and help if --God forbid a problem came about. Also how uncomfortable would it be for me to travel to California, or have a problem there. The sleep accomodations always suck. So. Also and this is no small consideration, I want to be in better shape.
Then Luke gets an idea. I could wait until he goes for his sabatical next spring. We won't have to go anywhere. I can heal here at home. By then we hope that Luke will be healed or almost healed and I won't be needed in the same way. So . . . we're no he is going to talk to the doctor. And we'll see. I'd feel so much better.
We pick up Xavier at school. He's playing with his friends , as always he's totally adorable. The kids are in wonder over a little white moth. How just beautiful is that. Children in wonder at the beauty of nature. He's excited to talk about the little moth and pet society. At home I have forgotten my keys which have Jen's house key. Luke finds a way to get in the house. So we are safe.
I'm so bummed by this whole surgery thing and by the sight of that xray. More on this later.
At home X and I share a snack from my lunch bag. We talk about pet society and just talk. Luke helps him with his homework. I sit on the porch and watch as X rides his bike without training wheels. Then a magical thing happens. He brings me a tiny, beautiful shiny stone. And he loves the color of it. But his artists eye isn't the magic. When he was small I used to walk to a little playground with him. We'd play with the tiny stones and he remembered. I almost cried. It was so . . . touching.
Rain, Ry and Violet came home. She always reaches for me and wants to sit on my lap and have me read to her. She ate the pizza I brought (the one from Shwan's which we all love) and drank my organic flavored water. Then she went into the livingroom and watched a show with X. She called for me to sit next to her. She'd cuddle up to me and then play and they cuddle and then play. It's very sweet. She's like Rain that way.
The sitter came. Rain and Luke, and Ry and I went to a restaurant opening. We met a few of Rain and Ry's friends and coworkers. The restaurant was perched on a hill in sight of a beautiful lake. What a blessing and what a beautiful scenic area. Trees and water.
Rain and Ry were invited by the bro-in-law of the owner/chef (a coworker of Rain). And we got to come along. The food was so delicious. We met the chef and got to talk to him, which is always fun. He is living his dream and we wish him luck.
We were having fun with Rain and Ry's friends, so we got home on the late side.
