4/16/09 Thursday with the littles in Btown
Got up this morning to sunshine and my husband with a minor leg cramp. What? I was less than happy and am concerned that it might be the extra salt . We're exploring and trying to get to the bottom of the puzzle. We need all the grace we can get.
The backyard was still and windless like in the Gita. Lots of sunshine. I dragged my feet, i.e. got caught in an easy, fun puzzle. But I did get my entire routine done and managed to get out the door within 5 minutes of my goal time. I'm phyched.
It was a beautiful day for a drive. I listen to tapes and talk to friends and family. It's a relaxing drive. The usual stop at Starbucks. A lot of friendliness comes my way. I like to feel that community among God's children. When the fronts come down and people recognize each other.
I talk to Rain. Xavier is expecting me. That's good. I see him in his little hoody. He's waiting for Gamma. I was worried that he would try to enter the car on the traffic side where his car seat is, but he didn't.
Waiting for him, I'd seen parents coming out of the school with these beautiful castles. They looked store bought. X was so excited to tell me all about them. One castle had a water feature. It was beautiful and he loved it, but it leaked. People put paper cups under the leak and the water still got on the floor. This appealed to X's funny bone. We both laughed. We listened to some crazy tapes that Luke cleaned out of his car. One was a musician/story teller.
Funny and weird. I'll probably throw it out. But it was funny to listen.
At home we get right into the homework. I find that the faster it gets done, the more time X has to relax and play. When I see the homework, I'm not sure that I can help him and he looks a little puzzled as well. The exercise had to do with temperature. In the end, I figured it out and only got one wrong. The spelling was fun. X did a good job. Then he got out the laptop.
I like to watch him play computor games.
Rain and Ry came home with Violetta. She wanted to sit in her high chair and eat. And she wanted Gamma to sit beside her. I liked that. Rain served her a nice selection of food, but she didn't want to eat any of it. She ate a few cheerios, and some of my apple sauce. She wants me to take a bit then she'll take a bite. Interesting.
Rain and Ry were going to a concert. V and I were doing newspaper art, which I used to do with Rain when she was little. You get newspaper and draw on top of the words and pictures. It's fun. R and R left for the concert. V was O.K. playing with Gamma. Katie, the sitter, came. Rocky barked his little head off. Then when she walked in, and he was all like pat me, give me attention.
I left for Indy about 7:30, after the kids felt comfy with Katy.
I learned something about communication with kids. You listen. You listen like you're sitting next to God himself. Because you are.
