4/11/09 Kids come for a visit

The kids come early.  Xavier's soccer game is canceled due to mud in the field.  The kids call from Martinsville so I know what I can get done and what I will offer in the name of family love.  I get most of my exercises done and the bed made.  I'm happy.  Then the door opens and the fun begins.

Violetta is glad to see Gramma.  I feel so happy to see her little face looking up at me as she climbs the stairs to see what we can play.  We go to the guest room and I read her a story about Barney and B.J.  Then, she's up and going and we head downstairs for the kitchen.  I make breakfast.  She want to know what I am eating.  I know that she won't like Gramma's mashed egg with salmon and olives.  She knows it too.

Soon Xavier is playing on the computor.  He loves action games.  Rain and I go to Target--Mecca.  Ry is nice enough to put V to bed so we can go alone and have mother/daughter time--a rare treat.  We buy extra treats for the Easter baskets,  clothes and other essential things.  After trying on endless tops,  I realize that it won't be easy to match my gypsy skirt with a top. I do need a dark green and will have to go somewhere else.  I find two great purple tops.  So nice with my skin.  I'll wear them with black pants.  And ,  for now,  the usual shoes.

We end with Starbucks and we get one coffee free.  And conversation.  A treat.

At home,  X and I draw for awhile.  Then we make dinner.  A salad,  crispy potatoes,  and red cabbage.  The kids will bring home Thai food and we'll mix home made and take out.

Em and Bobby come.  It's sweet to see the family come together,  talking ,  playing with kids,  dying eggs.  We're getting ready for the big Easter Egg hunt.  X does most of the egg decorating.  V is almost asleep on Auntie Em's shoulder.

The dinner is going well,  until Bobby has an allergic reaction to the peanuts in the Thai food.  We forgot .  We give him allergy meds and water and ice for his eyes.  Poor Bobby.

The kids go to be with no fuss.  They want to be up for the big egg hunt.

Family is a miracle.  The peace and love.  The happy feelings.  Watching kids see the world through fresh eyes.  Seeing the love and trust.
