Back in sync. It's today.
I was well prepared. I had the sandwiches made the night before. I got my whole routine done. Plus breakfast. We are going to B town for V's 2nd bday party. This will include her friends, X's friends and some of Rain and R's friends. We thought about not going, but it really wasn't an option. This events are part of life's magic.
The trip was sunny and relaxing. I've been happy lately. In a strange way. Content and joyful in a quiet, deep, grateful way. I don't know where it's coming from. Like having Starbucks Chai Latte on a cold day. My life isn't perfect lately and yet the quiet joy. I think I'm leaving more to God and trying to figure things out myself less.
It's Saturday so we didn't pick Xavier up at school. V was sleeping and Rain was resting upstrairs. X was playing his Spider Man game. He likes me to watch him. He's smart and he moves fast. He wins, but doesn't worry when he loses. I like that.
V woke up, She had shots yesterday. So she was tired and a little fussy. She wanted me to play with her. The quiet trust. She said, "I'm hungry." So I peeled a banana for her and R zapped a Chick Pat. I sat beside her as she ate. I love that the kids don't force her to finish something, and will let her try something else to eat. R gave her cottage cheese.
We got into the car and went to Max's Pizza V's fav. They were having a huge party for I.U.'s
graduate program in Ethnic music (well something like that) Tons of cool looking hippy like people poured into Max's. I came prepared with a veggie burger sandwich and ordered a salad. Very yum. So I didn't need pizza.
The Ethic group entertained--singing, dancing. So filled with life and joy. Rain didn't know they were coming. It was a lucky gift from the universe. The kids loved it. V mostly watched and ate cake. She played some, and rested some. There was a magic to this event that noone will ever forget. Like being in a Parisian Cafe during the Impressionist years.
The ride home was difficult but blessed. Heavy rain. But low traffic. We use our heads and went home while it was still light out. I would have had a harder time in the dark. At home I thanked God in all the forms he shows himself in in our lives--for protection and blessings--for family and for this joyful party.
I can still hear rain beating against the windows. A yummy sound. Thunder and lightening. When you are cosy warm and safe, a sound like music.
