Last night Luke and I were concerned about the weather being icy for my trip to B town.  Luke had to work,  so I was going alone.  When I got up this morning,  I could see a clear --good driving day.

Every year,  sometime after Christmas,  our employers give a beautiful Christmas party in their home.  They work hard and made an elegant affair.  The employees give them a gift.  For many years K has done all the work--collecting money,  asking people what they wanted to give,  going to get the gifts --a lot of work.

This year,  she asked me to do it.  I plan to do it the easiest possible way.  I'll write a note to all employees and invite them to honor these bosses who are so caring and giving.  Whatever we get,  we will.  Easy.  Then,  I'll pick up gift certificates:  one for MKate and one for her husband.  That's my thought so far.  I guess that we usually spend $ 100.  on each gift.  That means that 7 people have to give about 23 bucks.  But will all 7 give 23?  We shall see.

The weather was perfect for driving.  Sunny skies with white fluffy clouds.  I listened to "You're a good Man Charlie Brown."  Really got into the complex music.  I want to do that with praise music.  Starbucks for a Chai Latte.  Got to Xavier's school on time.  I went to the cafeteria where the kids wait for their parents to pick them up.  Xander seemed tired.  I think he's just getting over a cold.

Even at  home he wasn't himself.  But we did play super heros.  With Gramma all the figures end up good.  The bad guys transform into good guys.  This year Xavier doesn't mind.  We were supposed to go to the Golden Corral,  but things didn't time out.  Rain and R were going out tonight.  A timing thing.  Xavier lost it when he heard the news--both about dinner and about mom and dad going out.  I believe that kids should cry when they need to so I didn't try to stop him.  He wailed and I felt like he was grieving more than this one evening.  I don't know what's wrong.  God knows.  Maybe that's good enough.  I let him cry and then I made up a story about a green alien cat and he got into it.

When Rain and co came home,  Violetta reached out her little arms for me to hold her.  She is Gramma's little girl .  So very smart.  I wore 3 necklaces today.  She like to count them and I usually wear 2.  Without a pause she said 3 necklaces.  I fed her on healthy raisin bread and butter broken into little pieces.  She liked the vitamins that I got her.  She recognizes what 's going on immediately.  She saw the tube of baby lotion that I brought and said--baby lotion.

Jessica came to babysit.  She's growing up.  The wild hair is gone along with the singing group. Now she works two jobs and talks about buying a home one day.

The drive home was relaxing.  I had lots of energy.  Surprise.  I guess  I'm over whatever,  because I certainly didn't get to bed early.
