Yesterday I forgot the best part.

Andy Jacobs (as in former senator) shops at the health food store where I work.  He said that I can quote him.  He believes in miracles--read his books.  Also he's funny and one of the most principled people I know.  He won't even take a sample of free gum.

Talking about the election,  he said,  "They finally corrected a hypocrisy."  And that sums up what I feel about the election of Barack Obama.  Our constitution was written to protect the freedom of all people--black,  white,  male ,  female and so on.  Minorities have had to fight hard against prejudice.  They still do.  I think it's a miracle that a black, kind of arab,  man was elected President.  Finally making us a nation that stands by it's word.

Andy also went on to quote ,  "We began this country by saying that all men are created equal, except African Americans." Abe Lincoln   ( I write fast but this may not be exactly what Andy said--close  )All men are created equal,  the great emancipator himself said it.  Every 4th I'm invited to Garfield Park .  I always quote Lincoln.  And I say that all people are created equal especially men,  or actually white men.

So we've had a miracle of acceptance.  The whole world that recently burned our flags and looked upon us badly has given us another chance to prove our greatness as a nation.   I can't believe that you can achieve true greatness by hating and hurting other living beings.

I pray that this election begins a process of true change for our country and perhaps even the world.
