On Thursday, Xavier has a virus. Last night, gramma had a virus. So I deleted my blog by accident. It contained an important realization for me, so . . . since I'm home resting . . . I'll try again.
I woke up yesterday to some spare time. I had about 15 min. before my student was due. I checked my e-mail.
I had joined a facebook group that supports gay rights. I'm an independent voter. I'm very serious about personal freedoms. Why shouldn't everyone have personal freedom and equality under the law. Isn't that written into the constitution? Shouldn't all people be allowed ( as long as they don't steal, murder etc) to live the life they choose? Well, I believe they should.
I ended my statement saying that Jesus taught that love (not hate and judgement) was the most important of the commandments. You know, love thy neighbor. Not just if I happen to like my neighbor or believe as my neighbor believes. (ironically, I actually don't like my neighbor but that doesn't mean that she's not entitled to constitutional rights)
Well, a woman that I used to teach, and used to like, sent me a mean e-mail. Very nasty. I guess she doesn't think that gay people should have rights, which I think is a waste of her mental energy. The yogic saint , that I studied with in India , always advised his students to honor their time and take care of their own spiritual journeys , leaving others to do the same.
But, this woman doesn't agree with that idea. In fact it made her mad. At me.
Ordinarily, I would answer her e-mail, thus continuing a pointless argument. Instead, I began to think . . . why should someone else's personal freedom matter to me? I get my husband's insurance protection, and all the rights that go with being married.
Then I started counting my blessings--so many blessings small and huge. I guess I'm a lucky, happy person (most of the time) and I want that good fortune and happiness for all.
The nasty e-mail brought all these good things to mind and lit up my whole day and night!!!! Thanks mean e--mailer. More happiness for you in future times. Maybe you'll have a miracle that will bring that about.
Last night, Luke shared that a coworker that has been a source of bad thoughts and feelings for years, had a positive conversation with him. Luke believes they will work together in peace in future times. He says it was a miracle.
More miracles for all. If I were a candidate for office, I'd run on the "A Miracle in Every Pot,"
ticket.
